FAQ

How much do your guitars cost?

Because each guitar is made-to-order, there is no standard pricing model. Most of my guitars range between $2,500-4,500, but this depends on the wood and materials selected, complexity of the design, and any other special requests.

How long does it take you to complete a guitar?

The turnaround time varies. For a guitar with less complexity, where I don’t have to make any custom templates or jigs, and which uses readily-available parts, it could be as little as 6 weeks from start to finish. For something more customized and/or complex, it could be a couple of months. Timing will also depend on my own availability to be in the workshop. Since I have a full-time day job, I can’t always get into the workshop every evening or weekend.

What kinds of woods do you use?

A whole bunch! I have quite a stockpile of lumber including both domestic and exotic species, and I can get access to pretty much anything. I especially like working with black limba, walnut, koa, spruce, and roasted maple.

Will you make me a copy of [someone else's model]?

There are some rules when it comes to guitar making. For example, I won’t make anything that's in violation of someone else's copyright or intellectual property. As for non-copyrighted models or details, for the most part I'm of the opinion that if you want, say, a sunburst Les Paul, you should buy a Gibson sunburst Les Paul. If, on the other hand, you want a guitar in the style of a Les Paul, but with different hardware, woods, inlays, etc, then I'd love to build that for you.

I have a wild idea for a guitar design! Will you do it?

Reach out through the contact form and let's talk!

Do you do repairs?

Unfortunately, at this time, I don’t do repairs.

Can you make me just a neck? Just a body? etc.

Not at this time.

Can I trade you my Squier for a custom guitar?

No, I don’t accept trades in place of payment.

I have this old mahogany table. Can I send it to you to turn into a guitar?

Possibly, but I'll need to get more details first. Reach out!

Can I come visit your shop?

Depending on timing, sure! No drop-ins though, please. I have a day job, so I'm not in the workshop during the weekdays.
